Sleeping in the Hay

Barn loft for sleeping in the hay at the Park of Love

At the Park of Love you can spend the night in the hay in a barn loft. It is not a room or ordinary accommodation, but a simple place to sleep on the hay. It is meant for those who want to stay longer at the park or do not want to go home straight away.

Why the hay

Hay has its own smell, warmth and softness. Sometimes something pokes you. It is neither sterile nor even. You can hear birds, raindrops and wind, and at night perhaps the buzzing of wasps.

This is how our ancestors spent nights in the countryside. The girls went up to the loft for the night, and the village boys came to visit them. This was called ehal käimine, an old Estonian courting custom.

The experience

It is a simple place to sleep. The experience depends on the weather, the season and on you. Sometimes it is just a night.

Who it is for

Sleeping in the hay suits a person who wants to experience something simple and is ready to be close to nature. It does not suit someone looking for hotel-level comfort and even, sterile conditions.
