What awaits you
The smoke sauna at the Park of Love is not a spa or a social place. It is an old sauna, built in 1934 and renovated in 2024.
The space is simple. There is soot on the walls and traces of times gone by. Nothing has been “made pretty”.
The sauna is heated 4 to 5 hours in advance. By the time you arrive, the fire has gone out and there is no smoke left inside.
The steam is soft and aromatic. The temperature is usually around 65 to 70 degrees.
Hot water comes from a cast-iron pot on the heater. Cold water comes from a tap or a water barrel.
How to be there
It is worth being however you wish to be. Sit on the bench or lie down, whichever you feel like at the moment. That is, at that moment, the “right” way.
There are no set rituals or rules. The best companion is time together with silence.
Sometimes you may fall asleep while lying on the bench. That can bring very deep insights.
If you go to the smoke sauna at the Park of Love just to “pass the time”, its real magic may remain weak.
The deepest cleansing in the smoke sauna usually begins when you are in contact with your feelings. Then you can let go of what no longer serves you and gain what you did not have before: clarity.
